Canyon of the Eagles is an LCRA Resort and RV park on the northeast shore of Lake Buchanan near Burnet, Texas.  Here is a short description from the their web site:

A Texas Hill Country Resort is located in the heart of a 940-acre nature reserve which runs along the banks of Lake Buchanan and the Colorado River. Our sprawling 16-building complex was designed to blend within this remarkable habitat and leave the natural beauty of central Texas intact. Canyon of the Eagles Nature Park is owned by the Lower Colorado River Authority, which acquired the property in 1993 as part of its commitment to preserve natural resources for future generations and to provide science education, recreation, nature tourism opportunities and economic benefit to the region.

The drive up RR 2341 from Burnet to the site is beautiful but quite a long hike.  The road is very narrow (especially with a 38 foot 5th wheel) and quite a few sharp turns and inclines.   It is not dangerous, but you definitely need to take your time.  We stayed in site # 6 which is on the inside loop.  Each site here has sewer as well as water and electricity.  Site #6 was fairly level (side to side) but had a bit of down hill slope from rear to front.  Needless to say, it was easy to get and out of.  The sites are well spaced and we were not cramped at all.  My only complaint was the sewer hole was too far back on the site and I had to really stretch my sewer hose and the fact that it was going uphill.

The resort grounds and area is beautiful.  There are lots of hiking trails and nice views of Lake Buchanan.  The campground is up on a ridge so it is quite a hike (or short drive) down the lake shore.

It was a little cool when we were there, so we didn’t do any water sports but the resort offers canoe’s and kayak rentals.  The big attraction is a river tour that takes you up to a canyon where a fair number of bald eagles nest.  We opted out of the tour due to the cost but it did look like fun.  We really enjoyed how quiet and peaceful the place was and the wonderful views.   Over near the restaurant and resort HQ, is a big court yard where a wedding was held.  It was kind of neat to watch that from afar…  On Sunday afternoon we made the short drive over to Inks Lake State Park (about 15 miles) and enjoyed more hiking there.

Canyon of the Eagles is a very nice place and very secluded.   We enjoyed it but probably not enough for a return trip as LCRA trips are very pricey compared to Texas State Parks.  However it is worth enjoying Canyon of the Eagles once.
