We visited Bastrop RV Park, with our new RV that we purchased just two weeks before. We wanted to stay at Bastrop State Park, but it was completely booked. So we found this wonderful RV park about 15 minutes from Bastrop State Park. We picked Bastrop for our first RV trip in our new travel trailer since it was close to Austin and only about 50 minutes from our home.

The nice people that own the Bastrop RV Park were great. They helped us get settled in and chatted with us for a while. Bastrop RV Park had quite a few permanent residents but it was clean, well maintained and easy to find. The park has 80 sites and most of them looked to be level with concrete patio pads with full hookups.

There is a nice fishing pond on the property. We tried fishing for about an hour and caught nothing, but the owners swear there are some large mouth bass in the pond. The owners also have miniature donkeys on the property. They are interesting little creatures that seem to be quite friendly.

We only stayed one night as it was our “maiden voyage” in the new RV but it was a nice place. We spent the majority of our day light hours hiking and exploring Bastrop State Park just down the road. The only negative about this site is that it is fairly close to Highway 71 and the road noise was quite noticeable.
